CPSO INVESTIGATING FATAL HIT & RUN INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN IN LAKE CHARLES

Lake Charles, LA –

On Thursday, May 30, at approximately 4:15 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the area of Goodman Road and Opelousas Street in Lake Charles in reference to a possible body.  When deputies arrived, they observed a body on the side of the roadway, later identified as Larry J. Bushnell, 64, Lake Charles, whose injuries appeared to be from a possible hit and run.

During the investigation, deputies located numerous car parts at the scene and believe the suspect vehicle is a black 2016-2019 Mitsubishi Outlander.  The suspect’s vehicle should have obvious damage to the front passenger side headlight and grill area.  The passenger side mirror was also damaged, and may be completely missing at this time.  Detectives have reason to believe the suspect was traveling to the Lake Caroline Subdivision when the hit and run occurred.

The investigation is continuing.  Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call CPSO Lt. Bryan Guth at 491-3846 or Crime Stoppers at 439-2222.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
