CPSO LOCATES VEHICLE WHERE BODY WAS RECOVERED IN WATER

Lake Charles, LA –

On Tuesday, May 28, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a possible body floating in the waterway near Old Highway 90/Burnout Bridge in Vinton.  CPSO Marine Division arrived on scene and was able to recover the body, later identified as Garrett Harrell, Jr., 33, New Orleans.

After further investigation, deputies with the Marine Division were able to locate a vehicle underwater, after running sonar in the area where the body was recovered.  Earlier this morning deputies were able to lift a submerged Buick SUV, which has been confirmed as the vehicle Harrell was driving.

When the body was recovered there were no obvious signs of foul play or injuries.  The investigation is continuing, and the coroner will determine cause of death.
