Lake Charles –
On January 25, at approximately 6:50 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were responding to a call in the 1000 block of Big Woods Starks Road in Starks when they were notified of a vehicle in the ditch near the 800 block.
When deputies arrived they observed a small SUV upside down in the ditch, submerged in the water. Deputies, with the assistance of the Starks Fire Department, recovered the driver, Drake L. West, 23, Starks, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation revealed the driver of the SUV was attempting to negotiate a curve when the vehicle drifted off the roadway, into the ditch.
The Coroner will determine cause of death.
