CPSO INVESTIGATING BURGLARY & THEFT

Lake Charles, LA –

 

On Wednesday, November 8 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a business on N. Martin Luther King Highway in Lake Charles in reference to a burglary alarm. 

           

When deputies arrived, they observed the front door of the business to be shattered.  During the initial investigation deputies learned 4 unknown males made entry into the business by using a large rock to shatter the door.  Upon making entry into the business the suspects stole several items from inside, before fleeing in a car.   

           

During further investigation, CPSO deputies, with the assistance of the Lake Charles Police Department, where able to locate the car near the intersection of 4th Avenue and 7th Street in Lake Charles.  After a brief foot pursuit, deputies apprehended 2 suspects, both juveniles ages 14 and 16.  It was discovered the car had been stolen from the parking lot of a hotel on W. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles.  Deputies located the stolen items from the business inside the car. 

           

Both juveniles were arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with theft between $1,000 - $5,000; simple burglary; simple criminal damage to property; theft of a motor vehicle; resisting an officer by flight; possession of tobacco under 18; and curfew violation.
