CPSO ARRESTS MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR VEHICLE BURGLARIES

Lake Charles, LA –

On May 17 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Vehicle Crimes Investigative Unit detectives responded to Sterlington Place Subdivision in Carlyss in reference to multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours, where several firearms were reported stolen.

During the initial investigation, detectives reviewed video surveillance and after utilizing numerous law enforcement investigative resources were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle, a Cadillac SUV, as well as the registered owner of the vehicle.  While executing a search warrant at the registered owner’s residence, detectives made contact with the occupants inside the home and learned Shawn R. Slusher, 46, Sulphur, was in possession of the SUV during the time the burglaries occurred.

A short time later Slusher was located at a home in the Carlyss area and detained without incident.  After detectives spoke with Slusher he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.  He is charged with 4 counts of simple burglary; 3 counts of theft of a firearm; theft less than $1,000; and possession of CDS II, which was located on his person.  Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $97,500.

The investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.

CPSO VCIU Detectives James Rathke and Christopher Sharp are the lead investigators on these cases.
