CPSO RELEASES RESULTS OF DWI CHECKPOINT

Lake Charles –

On Friday, September 9 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a DWI checkpoint at 1657 Swisco Road in Sulphur to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.

Two hundred and eight (208) vehicles were checked; eight (8) citations were issued for no seatbelt; four (4) citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; five (5) citations were issued for driving under suspension; one (1) citation was issued for no insurance; one (1) citation was issued for open container; one (1) citation was issued for child restraint; one (1) citation was issued for obstructed windshield; and one (1) citation was issued for expired license plate. 

                The following individual was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center:

  • Alvin Parker, 45, Lafayette, arrested for possession of CDS II (methamphetamine); possession of CDS II (crack cocaine); possession of CDS II (powder cocaine), possession of CDS I (synthetic marijuana); possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

o   Mieka Rogalski, 24, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of CDS II (methamphetamine); possession of CDS II (crack cocaine); possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia

o   Marques Bragg, 42, Sulphur, was arrested for DWI; and contempt of court warrant for domestic abuse battery strangulation

o   Shawn McNabb, 25, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of CDS IV(alprazolam)

The following individuals were issued a signed summons and released:

  • Chance Burnsworth, 38, Sulphur, was arrested for driving under suspension for prior DWI; and expired MVI
  • Seth Duhon, 29, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Joshua Duhon, 30, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving under suspension; and turning movements and signals required
  • Stacy Messink, 46, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia; and obstructed windshield

o   Chase Molitor, 22, Sulphur was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia

o   Khadihah Jones, 28, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and open container

o   Schnequia Fontenot, 45, Sulphur, was arrested for possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia

o   Maychelle Albright, 34, Orange, was arrested for possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia

Participating in the checkpoint was the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Charles Police Department.  The checkpoint was sponsored by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.   

 

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
