CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR 1st DEGREE RAPE

Lake Charles, LA –
 
On August 30 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in reference to a rape of a girl under the age of 14.
           
During the investigation detectives received information identifying the suspect as Hunter K. Smith, 26, Lake Charles.  On September 1, detectives located Smith at which time he was transported to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for questioning.  He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1st degree rape. 
            
Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $1 million. 
            
CPSO Detective Ben Hare is the lead investigator on these case. 

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
