CPSO CHARGES MAN FOR ATTEMPTED 2nd DEGREE MURDER

Lake Charles, LA –

           

Earlier this morning at approximately 1:30 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in reference to a shooting at a nightclub, located on Highway 109 South in Vinton.

 

Once on scene deputies located the victim, suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen and legs.  After the initial investigation and speaking with witnesses at the scene, detectives learned Kaleb C. Harvey, 19, Nederland, Texas, and the victim were engaged in a verbal altercation outside of the establishment at which time Harvey retrieved a firearm out of his vehicle and shot the victim multiple times. Detectives learned Harvey fled the scene and was possibly headed to his home in Nederland.   

 

Later in the morning, deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office located Harvey at which time he was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.  He is charged with attempted 2nd degree murder.  Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $250,000.

           

The victim was transported to a local hospital and immediately taken into emergency surgery.  He is listed in critical condition.
