CPSO ARRESTS STUDENT FOR GUN AT LAGRANGE HIGH SCHOOL

 Earlier this afternoon around 3:00 p.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer at LaGrange High School was outside the school when he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from a group of students.  Upon a subsequent search performed by the principal they located a loaded firearm along with a small amount of marijuana inside a 16 year old student’s backpack. 

           

The student was arrested and will be booked in the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in a firearm free zone; possession of a controlled substance in a drug free zone; illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile; and possession of marijuana.
