CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR 2ND DEGREE CRUELTY TO JUVENILE

Lake Charles, LA –

 

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:00 p.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a local hospital in reference to a two year old with severe injuries covering her body. 

           

During the initial investigation detectives learned the two year old along with a four year old, were in the care of Jocson D. Silva, 21, Sulphur.  The investigation also revealed Silva physically abused both children.  He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2nd degree cruelty to juveniles; and cruelty to juveniles.  His bond has not yet been set.

           

The two year old was airlifted to a hospital out of town due to the severity of her injuries.  She remains in critical condition. 

           

The investigation is continuing.  CPSO Detectives Kimberly Curran is the lead investigator on this case. 

 

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
