CPSO ARRESTS 3 FOR ARMED ROBBERY

Lake Charles, LA –

Earlier this morning at approximately 12:00 a.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a convenience store on Toomey Road in Vinton in reference to an armed robbery.

During the initial investigation the complainant advised deputies she was robbed at gunpoint by three men.  The victim also stated the suspects stole an undisclosed amount of cash, items from inside the store, along with her personal belongings.  She was able to give deputies a description of the car, at which time CPSO dispatch put out a BOLO (Be on The Lookout).

A short time later the Lake Charles City Police observed the suspect’s car, at which time the officer attempted to make a stop on the car.  The suspects fled and led officers on a pursuit.  Spike strips were deployed by assisting agencies and the car ultimately came to a stop near mile marker 72 in Acadia Parish.

Three suspects fled the car on foot, but were shortly apprehended.  Taurus T. Finley, Jr., 20, Evan A. Ard, 20, both of Hammond, and Jaylon D. Brumfield, 23, 710 Iris Street, #309, Lake Charles, were arrested and booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.  They are charged with armed robbery; armed robbery with a firearm; illegal carrying of a weapon during a crime of violence; and resisting an officer by flight.  Judge David Ritchie set each of their bonds at $855,000.

CPSO Detective Lauren Manuel is the lead investigator on this case.

Assisting agencies are the Lake Charles City Police, Louisiana State Police Troop D, Louisiana State Police Troop I, Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office, Welsh Police Department, and Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
