Lake Charles –
On Friday, February 18 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a DWI checkpoint at 1313 Country Club Road in Lake Charles to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
One thousand five hundred ninety-four(1,594) vehicles were checked; ten (10) field sobriety tests were administered; twenty-nine (29) citations were issued for no seatbelt; four (4) citations were issued for no child restraint; two (2) citations were issued for no driver’s license; thirteen (13) citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; four (4) citations were issued for expired license plate; seven (7) citations were issued for illegal window tint; and one (1) citation was issued for a headlight violation.
The following individuals were booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center:
Darien A. Bartie, 28, Lake Charles, arrested for illegal carrying of weapons in presence of CDS; illegal possession of a stolen firearm; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and a traffic violation
o Corey P. Orgeron, 33, Lake Charles, arrested for possession of CDS III; possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and a traffic violation
The following individuals were issued a signed summons and released:
Breoisha C. Brooks, 29, TX, arrested for possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia
Casey Fontenot, 28, Lake Charles, arrested for possession of marijuana
17 year old juvenile arrested for possession of marijuana; and DWI 1st
Participating in the checkpoint was the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police Troop D, Lake Charles Police Department, and Ward 3 Marshal’s Office.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
