CPSO ARRESTS MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR HIT & RUN FATALITY

Lake Charles –

 

Last night at approximately 8:00 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Lewis Street in Sulphur in reference to a bicycle/vehicle fatality.

           

During the investigation detectives learned the driver, later identified as Marcus K. Pentecost, 30, 1610 Lewis Street, Sulphur, was traveling northbound on Lewis Street when he struck the bicycle from behind and fled the scene.  The victim, identified as a 15 year old juvenile, was pronounced dead at the scene.

           

Pentecost was later located at his residence and was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with negligent homicide; felony hit and run; operating a vehicle under suspension; and carless operation.  Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $85,500.

           

In accordance with Louisiana state law, standard toxicology testing will be performed on the driver.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
