New Business:
1. A resolution to examine and canvass the returns, declare the result and approve and promulgate the certified returns of the votes cast (with regard to the renewal of the one-quarter (1/4%) sales and use tax) in the election held in the Law Enforcement District of the Parish of Calcasieu, State of Louisiana (the “District”), on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
2. If the previous resolution is approved; adoption of the Proces Verbal of the canvass of the returns of said election by the Sheriff and the Law Enforcement District of said results. Furthermore, upon the approval, the Sheriff’s staff is instructed to record the results with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office, the Calcasieu Parish Clerk of Court’s Office and forward copies to all appropriate entities. Staff is further instructed to promulgate the results of said election by publication in the manner provided by law.
3. The adoption of an Ordinance providing for the renewal of the levy (by the Calcasieu Parish School Board) and collection of a one-quarter (1/4%) percent sales and use tax (“Tax”) by the Law Enforcement District of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana (“District”), for an additional ten (10) year period beginning October 1, 2023, and expiring on September 30, 2033 (as called for by the voters of Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, on November 13, 2021) in accordance with the provisions and terms of Chapter 2D of Subtitle II, Title 47 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as it may be amended (“Uniform Local Sales Tax Code”).
