CPSO UPGRADES CHARGES FOR JUVENILE INVOLVED IN SHOOTING

Lake Charles, LA –

 

On November 13 around 7:30 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Julia Street in Lake Charles in reference to a shooting.  When deputies arrived they located the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  During further investigation, it was learned the victim’s 16 year old friend was responsible for the shooting.  She was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with aggravated 2nd degree battery. 

 

On the evening of November 16 detectives learned the victim, Jayden P. Ramirez, 18, Lake Charles, died from his injuries.  Earlier today detectives upgraded the 16 year old’s charges from aggravated 2nd degree battery to 2nd degree murder.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
