CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR BURGLARY & THEFT

Lake Charles, LA –

 

On August 13 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a business on E. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles in reference to a burglary and theft. 

           

During the initial investigation deputies were advised an unknown man entered the fence on the property but cutting a hole.  Once on the property the suspect stole insulated cables.  Detectives viewed video surveillance and after further investigation were able to identify the suspect as Samuel J. Johnson, 44, 714 Sundale Drive, Lake Charles. 

           

The following day Johnson was located and while speaking with detectives he stated he drove to the business with another individual.  He further advised detectives he stole the cables and scrapped them in Texas. 

           

He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; theft $1,000 - $5,000; and criminal damage to property less than $1,000.  Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $14,000.  Johnson also had an active warrant for contempt of court.

           

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
