CPSO ARRESTS SEX OFFENDER FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER

Lake Charles, LA –

On April 24 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested convicted sex offender Eric A. Morales, 44, Lake Charles, after an investigation revealed he was in violation of his sex offender registration requirements on three separate occasions.

In November 2020, Morales, who was convicted of rape in 1996 in MA, failed to report for his quarterly sex offender registration with CPSO Sex Offender detectives, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.  During further investigation, it was learned Morales, who had not paid his sex offender registration fees for the year 2020, had moved from his registered address and failed to report a new address with law enforcement, also making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.  Morales also failed to report for his quarterly sex offender registration in February 2021, once again making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.

Detectives attempted to locate Morales on numerous occasions but were unsuccessful and on March 29 Judge Derrick Kee signed a warrant in the amount of $9,500 for Morales’ arrest.

On April 24 CPSO deputies were dispatched to a local casino in reference to a trespassing complaint.  During the investigation they made contact with the suspect, Morales.  He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 3 counts of failure to register as a sex offender; and failure to pay sex offender fees.  Morales was also issued a misdemeanor summons for trespassing.

CPSO Cpl. Rodney Daigle, Jr., is the arresting deputy on this case.  CPSO Detective Cory Myers is the lead investigator on this case.
