Lake Charles, LA –

On March 9 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local hospital in reference to an individual advising hospital personnel he wanted to turn himself in to law enforcement.

When deputies arrived they spoke with Israel J. Lachica, 67, homeless.  It was discovered Lachica, who is a registered sex offender, had been living in Calcasieu Parish and failed to notify local law enforcement, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.

He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender 2nd offense.  His bond is still pending.

Lachica was convicted of molestation of a juvenile in Terrebonne Parish in 2003.  In 2007 and again in 2012 Lachica was convicted of failure to register as a sex offender.

CPSO Sr. Cpl. Bradley Lamar is the arresting deputy on this case.  CPSO Detective Cory Myers is the lead investigator on this case.
