CPSO MAKES ARREST FOR UNDERAGE DWI & VEHICULAR NEGLIGENT INJURING AFTER CRASH

Lake Charles –

Last night at approximately 11:40 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in reference to a single vehicle crash in the 800 block of Route 66 in DeQuincy.  The initial investigation revealed the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, striking several trees.  Two juvenile passengers in the truck were injured; one who suffered non-life threatening injuries was transported to a local hospital, and the other who suffered serious bodily injury was airlifted to a hospital out of town.

When deputies spoke with the driver, Dylan M. LeJeune, 18, 1090 Highway 27, DeQuincy, he advised deputies he consumed multiple alcoholic beverages and took prescription medication that was not prescribed to him prior to driving the truck.  After LeJeune performed poorly on standard field sobriety testing he submitted to a blood draw for a toxicology report.  He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with underage DWI 1st; carless operation; 1st degree vehicular negligent injuring; and vehicular negligent injuring.  He was released today on a $5,500 bond set by Judge Clayton Davis.

The crash is still under investigation.
