CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER 2ND OFFENSE

Lake Charles –

On June 14 at approximately 10:00 p.m., a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a residence on Wanda Lane in DeQuincy in reference to a suspicious vehicle driving slowly in the neighborhood.

When the deputy arrived he made contact with the driver, registered sex offender Harold K. Ramuar, 56, 909 Tana Street, Sulphur.  Ramuar advised the deputy he had driven from Sulphur and was looking for a friend but was lost.  During the investigation it was learned the van Ramuar was driving had not been registered with law enforcement, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.

Ramuar was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender 2nd offense.  Judge David Ritchie set his bond at $150,000.

Ramuar was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile by performing sexually immoral acts in 2009 in Calcasieu Parish; he was also convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in 2015 in Calcasieu Parish.  Ramuar was also arrested earlier this year in February and charged with failure to register as a sex offender 2nd offense.

CPSO Sr. Cpl. Thomas Poore was the arresting deputy on this case.
