CPSO INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC FATALITY IN SULPHUR

Last night at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle crash near the intersection of N. Claiborne Street and Sim Portie Road in Sulphur.         

 

The initial investigation revealed the car was traveling southbound on N. Claiborne Street when it went off the roadway for unknown reasons.  The car struck a road sign and culvert before coming to rest in the ditch.  The driver of the car, Lisa A. Shepard, 59, Sulphur, was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated.  She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.    

 

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and the investigation is still continuing.  As mandated by state law, toxicology testing will be performed.
