A student reported to the CPSO School Resource Officer that a 16 year old boy had a gun in his backpack at school.  After a search of the 16 year old's backpack, an unloaded gun was found, along with one live round wrapped in some paper.

The juvenile was arrested and will be charged with possession of a weapon in a firearm free zone.

The student who reported to the SRO that a gun was in a backpack will be recommended for a reward under a special Crimestopper program that encourages students to report guns on school campuses.
