CPSO INMATE ESCAPES BUT QUICKLY RECAPTURED

Lake Charles –

Earlier this morning at approximately 7:30 a.m. Calcasieu Sheriff’s Prison inmate Ashley J. Grundmann, 36, was being escorted to the Calcasieu Correctional Center for 72 hour court.  While she and a deputy were standing outside of the door at the intake area of the CCC waiting to go into the building, Grundmann, whose hands and feet were shackled, escaped custody of the CPSO deputy and was able to release one of her hands from the shackles.  She ran from the deputy and got into a car, from another law enforcement agency that was left running outside the CCC intake area.  Grundmann fled in the car and led deputies on a pursuit from Highway 171 in Lake Charles into Beauregard Parish, where she eventually stopped the car and was taken into custody at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Grundmann has been incarcerated since March 15 when CPSO deputies arrested her for 4 counts of possession of a legend drug; and possession of CDS IV.  She will now be charged with simple escape; theft of a motor vehicle; and aggravated flight from an officer.
