CPSO SETS UP CALL CENTER TO TAKE NON-EMERGENCY CALLS AND URGES THE PUBLIC TO GET PREPARED

Lake Charles, LA –

Sheriff Tony Mancuso has set up a call center at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office to take non-emergency calls during Hurricane Harvey.  The number is (337) 491-3846 and will be open for calls twenty four hours a day beginning Sunday morning at 6:30.

“We are setting up this call center because we are anticipating a large number of non-emergency calls from the public,” says Sheriff Mancuso.  “I know that it is most likely a day or two away from all the effects our parish will feel from Hurricane Harvey, but we are preparing for the worst.”

“I think it is very important that our citizens get ready now for the imminent flooding we are going to experience,” says Mancuso.  “It is a possibility some of us will lose electricity and some of us may even be displaced from their home due to flooding.  Go buy your water, non-perishable food, batteries, get medications filled and have plenty of gas in your vehicle.  I strongly encourage everyone to prepare for a significant high water event.”
