CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR CRUELTY TO A JUVENILE

Lake Charles –

On April 4 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to call at a local hospital in reference to cruelty to a juvenile.  Upon arrival deputies observed marks and bruising on the 4 year old boy’s stomach, back, buttocks, legs, genitals, and face.  The child stated that a family acquaintance, Lakeith D. Morrow, 31, Iowa, whipped him with a belt because he would not go to sleep.  Detectives learned the incident happened sometime between March 31 and April 4, while the child was staying with a family member.

On April 7 Judge Clayton Davis signed a warrant in the amount of $100,000 for Morrow’s arrest.  He was located later the same day and arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to a juvenile.  When detectives questioned Morrow about the incident, he confirmed he had spanked the boy with a belt.

CPSO Detective Keeba Barber is the lead investigator on this case.
