CPSO ARRESTS MAN ON WARRANT FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS SEX OFFENDER

Lake Charles –

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested convicted sex offender Jimmie J. Jackson, 50, 1109 Deesport Street, Lake Charles, on an active warrant for failing to comply with his sex offender registration requirements.

Jackson, who was convicted of sexual assault in 1990 in Texas, is required to complete an in-person registration every ninety days according to his sex offender registration requirements.   In October 2016 Jackson was advised by the CPSO Sex Offender Division he would be due for his next in-person registration in January 2017.  Jackson failed to schedule his appointment in January and was advised he was late.  An appointment was scheduled for February 8 but Jackson failed to show up, making him in violation of his registration requirements.  On March 8 Judge Guy Bradberry signed a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender in the amount of $10,000 for Jackson’s arrest.

On March 16 deputies were dispatched to a residence on Highway 397 in Lake Charles in reference to a disturbance.  When deputies arrived they located Jackson and learned he had an active warrant for his arrest.

Jackson was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.  He was released on bond the next day.
