CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

Lake Charles, LA –

On March 3 at approximately 8:00 a.m. deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint at a home on Falconer Lane in Lake Charles in reference to removing a man, later identified as Walter N. Robinson, convicted sex offender, 37, 1325 Mill Street, Lake Charles, from her property.

When deputies arrived they spoke with the complainant who stated Robinson, an acquaintance, had driven to her home earlier in the morning but she had told him to leave.  She observed Robinson’s truck still parked in the front of her residence and advised deputies he may be hiding inside the shed in front of her home.  Deputies approached the shed and located Robinson inside.  While speaking with him they learned he had been driving a truck that was not registered with law enforcement, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.  Deputies also learned there was no insurance on the truck Robinson had been driving and the license plate had been switched.

Robinson was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correction Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender; switched plates; and no vehicle insurance.  Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $50,500.

CPSO Deputy Antonio Hagans and Sr. Cpl. Casey Steech are the arresting deputies on this case.

Robinson was convicted of indecent behavior with a juvenile in 2002 in Jefferson Parish.
