CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR ATTEMPTED 2ND DEGREE MURDER

Lake Charles –

 

On January 29 at approximately 2:00 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in reference to a shooting at a residence on Ira Breaux Road in Lake Charles.  Further investigation revealed Gene R. Castillo, 61, Ira Breaux Road, Lake Charles, had an argument with a family member and then retrieved a shot gun and shot the victim in the stomach. 

 

The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Lafayette and underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries he sustained during the shooting.  He remains in critical condition.  

 

Castillo was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with attempted second degree murder.  Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $200,000.

 

The shooting is still under investigation.
