CPSO ARRESTS  MAN FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

On January 4 deputies with the CPSO Sex Offender Unit received information regarding Antonio L. Clifton, 58, MS, working at a local plant without notifying the proper authorities of his employment or his temporary lodging information, as required by law for all registered sex offenders. Deputies were able to confirm that Clifton had been employed at with the company since August 2015. It was also learned Clifton failed to notify the authorities in Mississippi, where he is currently registered, of his employment in Louisiana.

 

After further investigation on January 13 Judge Michael Canaday signed a warrant in the amount of $25,000 for Clifton’s arrest. He was located the same day at his place of employment and was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender. He was released on bond the next day.

 

Clifton was convicted of sexual battery in 1996 in Mississippi.
