CPSO INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC FATALITY IN SOUTH LAKE CHARLES

Lake Charles –

 

Around 12:30 p.m. today, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to an accident on Gauthier Rd. near Vermillion Dr. in south Lake Charles.   The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a Honda Accord,  Sean Nunez, 37, swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic in front of a Ford pickup truck causing the car and truck to collide.  A pedestrian running along the side of the road was struck by both vehicles.

           

Nunez was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries from the accident. The driver of the truck and his two passengers and the pedestrian were taken to the hospital.  As of 8:00 p.m. the pedestrian and two of the passengers in the truck have been released from the hospital. One of the passengers of the truck is still in the hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.

           

Everyone involved in the accident are from Lake Charles.

           

The investigation is ongoing.  CPSO Sgt. Bryan Guth and Sgt. Ty Istre are the lead investigators of this accident.
