Lake Charles –
Yesterday, October 19, around 10:00 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Roy Road in Lake Charles in reference to a possible body seen in Black Bayou. The CPSO Marine Division along with detectives were able to locate James E. Hanson Jr., 49, 8559 Gulf Highway Lot 122, Lake Charles, unresponsive in the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation deputies learned family members had not seen Hanson since he left home Sunday morning on foot. Deputies also located Hanson’s clothing, which he was last seen wearing, and personal items laying near the water, leading them to believe the drowning is accidental.
CPSO Detective Cody Fontenot is the lead investigator on this case.
