CPSO INVESTIGATES TRAIN ACCIDENT FATALITY

Lake Charles –

 

This morning, July 10, at approximately 4:00 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the intersection of Edgerly DeQuincy Hwy. and Edgerly Cut-off Rd. in Vinton regarding a pedestrian/train accident.

 

The investigation revealed Sally Hooker, 64, of Vinton, was walking on the train tracks. As a train approached, the engineer saw Hooker on the tracks and began sounding the horn but Hooker made no attempt to move out of the way. She was hit by the train and was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Sgt. Beth McGee and Sgt. Ty Istre are the lead investigators of this incident.
