CPSO ARRESTS 3 FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

          On May 26, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Unit received information that convicted registered sex offender Bradley Wofford, 46, 108 Vincent Dr., Lot 49, Sulphur, had moved without notifying the proper authorities within three (3) days as required by law for all registered sex offenders, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements. The investigation revealed Wofford had moved from his home on Patton Street in Sulphur and was staying at a local hotel while waiting to move. Wofford then moved to Vincent Lane in Sulphur around May 17 and never notified the proper authorities.

          On June 9, Judge Ron Ware signed a warrant for Wofford’s arrest in the amount of $3,500 for failure to register as a sex offender. On June 20 Wofford was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.

          Wofford was convicted of oral sexual battery and indecent behavior with juveniles in Calcasieu Parish in 2012.

          On June 9, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Unit received a call from convicted registered sex offender James Belanger, 36, 1004 Sulphur Ave., Westlake, stating he had moved from a home on Clara Street in Sulphur to Sulphur Ave. in Westlake. Belanger was advised to report in person to the CPSO Sex Offender Unit within three (3) days of moving as required by law for all registered sex offenders. An appointment was scheduled for Belanger to update his address in person but he did not show up, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements. Belanger contacted the CPSO Sex Offender Unit again on June 20 and left a message stating he was on his way to update his information, but never showed up.

          On June 22, Judge Guy Bradberry signed a warrant for Belanger’s arrest in the amount of $25,000 for failure to register as a sex offender. Later the same day Belanger was located at his home on Sulphur Avenue and was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.

           Belanger was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 2002 and sexual battery in 2008, both in Calcasieu Parish.

          The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Unit arrested convicted registered sex offender Glenn Baxter, 51, 5925 Hwy 3112, Vinton.

          On May 11, deputies with the CPSO Sex Offender Unit received information regarding Glenn Baxter, 51, 5925 Hwy. 3112, Vinton, working at a local motel in Vinton without notifying the proper authorities of his employment information within three (3) days, as required by law for all registered sex offenders. Deputies were able to confirm that Baxter had been employed at the motel since 2014, and he was employed at a construction company, neither which were registered with the Sex Offender Unit.

          Baxter was located later the same day and was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender. Judge Ron Ware set his bond at $10,000.

          Baxter was convicted of sexual battery in Calcasieu Parish in 1998.
