-Lake Charles

On April 21 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a local business in Sulphur regarding a former employee, Becky L. Hebert, 33, 3605 Van Buren St., Lake Charles, that had stolen from the company.

The investigation revealed that from 2009 until March 2016, Hebert, who worked in the accounts payable and receivable department, made over $400,000 in fraudulent payments from her employer’s business account to an office supply company for office supplies that were never received. In return for the payments Hebert received approximately $6,800 in prepaid gift cards from the fraudulent office supply company.

On April 25 after further investigation, Hebert was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with theft over $25,000. Judge Sharon Wilson set her bond at $10,000.

The investigation is ongoing with more charges possible.
