Lake Charles –
On February 14 at approximately 10:30 p.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a single car accident at the intersection of Ray Johnson Road and Ray Hitt Road in Starks.
The preliminary investigation revealed the SUV driven by Jamey Chandler, 41, Pitkin, LA, was traveling west on Ray Johnson Road and failed to stop at the stop sign. Chandler’s vehicle traveled into the ditch and struck the embankment.
Chandler, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was transported to a local hospital. She died from her injuries on Tuesday, February 16.
It is unknown if impairment is the cause of the accident but the investigation is still continuing. As mandated by state law, a toxicology report will be conducted.
CPSO Sgt. Terry Faulk and Deputy Travis Killmer are the lead investigators of this accident.
