CPSO RECEIVES AMBER ALERT FROM ASCENSION PARISH AND ARRESTS MAN WHO KIDNAPPED ESTRANGED WIFE AND HER 2 YEAR OLD GRANDSON

Lake Charles –

Today, Saturday, September 19 the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office issued an Amber Alert for 54-year-old Mary Jones and her 2 year old grandson, who were abducted in Prairieville, LA by Troy A. Jones, 48, Prairieville, who is Mary Jones’ estranged husband.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office because they had reason to believe Jones may be in Calcasieu Parish. Working with information from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, CPSO deputies set up surveillance at a local motel at approximately 2:00 p.m.and after about an hour Jones showed up but led deputies on a short vehicle pursuit when they approached him. He ditched the car at the end of a dead end road and led deputies on a short foot pursuit where he was quickly apprehended.

Mary Jones and her 2 year old grandson were in the car when Jones left the car on foot but neither were harmed.

Jones will be charged with aggravated flight from an officer and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. It is unknown what charges will be filed in Ascension Parish but Jones has outstanding warrants from that parish not related to this case.

“I’m so proud of our deputies who did an outstanding job of not only apprehending this kidnapper but rescuing Mary Jones and her grandson safely,” says Sheriff Tony Mancuso. “This ordeal could have had a very different outcome for these two victims had these deputies not been so diligent and determined.”
