On Friday, September 4 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a DWI checkpoint at Hwy 27 North & Houston River Road in Sulphur to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics.
On thousand three hundred and forty nine (1,349) vehicles were checked; eight (8) field sobriety tests were administered; twenty (20) citations were issued for no seat belt in use; six (6) citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; three (3) citations were issued for driving under suspension; and seven (7) citations were issued for open container.
Jesus G. Trejo, 30, Houston, TX, was arrested for DWI; littering; and expired MVI.
Everette Towner, 47, 959 Southern Meadows Dr., Lake Charles, was arrested for DWI; driving under suspension; open container; and expired MVI.
Joshua Neely, 22, 3018 Guillory Rd., Westlake, was arrested for DWI; and possession of marijuana.
Christopher Gill, 30, 546 Manorwood Dr., Lake Charles, was arrested for possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Joseph Tower, 36, 1828 Southbend Rd., Lake Charles, was arrested for DWI.
They were all issued a summons and released.
Participating in the checkpoint were Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police and Kinder Police Department.
