CPSO PARTICIPATES IN DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER

Lake Charles –

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is participating in the national crackdown on drunk driving with grant funding from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. The 20-day campaign that started August 21 and ends September 7, ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,’ is a partnership with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to curb impaired driving and save lives.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office will have increased checkpoints and increased officers on the road, aimed to reduce the toll of drunk driving.

“Research has shown that high-visibility enforcement like ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign reduces drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent. By joining this nationwide effort, we will make Calcasieu Parish roadways safer for everyone,” said Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso.
