CPSO RELEASES RESULTS OF DWI AND SEATBELT CHECKPOINT IN LAKE CHARLES

Lake Charles –

 

On Thursday, May 28, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a DWI and seatbelt checkpoint at 5500 block of Elliot Road in Lake Charles to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, as well as, people who are not wearing their seatbelt.

 

Seven hundred eighty six (786) vehicles were checked; two (2) field sobriety tests were administered but there were no arrests for DWI; however, seven (7) citations were issued for no seat belt in use; two (2) citations were issued for no child restraint in use; four (4) citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; two (2) citations were issued for expired license plate; one (1) citation was issued for no motor vehicle inspection sticker; one (1) citation was issued for driving under suspension; and one (1) citation was issued for open container.

 

Participating in the checkpoint were Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and Lake Charles City Police.
