CPSO ARRESTS TWO FOR BURGLARY & THEFT

Lake Charles, LA –

On May 12, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress at a home on Gant Road in Sulphur. While en route, deputies were advised by a witness that she observed a male, later identified as Joshua Langford, 23, 1207 Ravia Rd. #81, Sulphur, leaving the residence with a window unit. The witness was able to give deputies a description and license plate number of the vehicle seen leaving the scene.

A short time later deputies spotted the vehicle matching the description given by the witness and conducted a stop. When deputies were speaking with the driver, Langford, he admitted that he had stolen the air conditioner along with several power tools from the residence. Langford signed a search and seizure form, and deputies located the window unit along with an air compressor, instrument survey level, disc grinder, socket set, and an emergency roadside kit in the truck. Deputies also located a pink bag with a digital scale with white residue on it located on the passenger side floorboard. The passenger of the vehicle, Gina Giaimis, 26, 800 Mike Hooks Road, Westlake, admitted that the pink bag belonged to her, but denied ownership of the scale.

When detectives spoke with Giaimis she advised them that more stolen property was located at Langford’s residence. Langford lied to detectives about his address, but Giamis gave a description of Langford’s residence to detectives so they could obtain a search warrant for the home. Once detectives searched Langford’s residence they were able to locate two stolen generators.

Langford and Giaimis were both booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Langford is charged with simple burglary; theft $750 to $5,000; illegal possession of stolen property over $1,500; and obstruction of justice. Judge

Ron Ware set his bond at $10,500. Giamis is charged with simple burglary; theft $750 to $5,000; illegal possession of stolen property over $1,500; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Judge Ron Ware set her bond at $7,500.

The stolen property was recovered by deputies and returned to the victims.
