Commendations & Promotions

We are proud of the deputies who work so hard to help make Calcasieu Parish a safe place to live. It is my belief we have one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the state. The men and women of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office are highly skilled professionals committed to their jobs and to the people they serve.

Baton Rouge Senior Special Agent Jacqueline Elders presented Commander Gene Pittman, Captains Beth McGee, and Ben Angerstein with a plaque for their outstanding assistance and support on behalf of the United States Secret Service.



Sgt. Carol Ann Bourge | September 2020

Pictured is Sgt. Carol Anne Bourge after she was presented with an award for her exemplary service within the Enforcement Division.

 

Sgt. Bourge has been employed with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office since 1992. She has spent the last two years in the Enforcement Division working as the Sergeant at the front desk.

Cpl. Alex Zaunbrecher | June 2020

Cpl. Alex Zaunbrecher, who currently works in the Enforcement Division, was recently recognized by Sheriff Tony Mancuso for going above and beyond the call of duty on numerous occasions.

 

Zaunbrecher has worked past her scheduled shifts or worked while off-duty on several occasions in attempts to aid in solving cases. Zaunbrecher has also been a great example of the Sheriff's motto, treat everyone like family, whether it be by helping someone change a tire while she was off-duty or helping a homeless family with clothes for their young children.

Sgt. Michael LaVergne | June 2020

On May 19, Deputy Michael LaVergne, who was off-duty, witnessed a truck rolling into the water while attempting to back their boat in at a launch in Moss Bluff.  During the incident the owner of the boat fell off the dock into the water and was trapped between two boats. LaVergne also observed the truck starting to sink with two children still inside.

 

Thanks to his quick thinking, LaVergne was able to save the owner and get him out of the water as well as save the children out of the sinking truck.

Lt. Cody Soileau | May 2020

Sr. Cpl. Chris Hathaway| May 2020

Sr. Cpl. Chris Hathaway was awarded a Challenge Coin after his heroic actions while attempting to save an individual's life last month. He was presented the coin by Sheriff Tony Mancuso for his quick thinking and selfless and courageous actions.

Sgt. Jeremy Wolford | May 2020

Sgt. Jeremy Wolford and his K-9 Max, were awarded the Patrol Case of the 4th Quarter of 2019 from the National Police Canine Association.

Assistant Warden Chris Domingue | May 2020

Domingue played a critical role in setting up video conferencing between judges and inmates at the CCC and CSP during the initial COVID-19 outbreak. Sheriff Mancuso received several letters and phone calls complementing Domingue's hard work and dedication to the project.

Deputy Nate Johnson | April 2020

While working an off-duty security detail at a local grocery store Deputy Johnnson was observed assisting an elderly women load her groceries in her car. Deputy Johnson is a great example of the Sheriff's motto, "Treat everyone like family".

Sgt. Donald Sherer | March 2020

Pictured is Sgt. Donald Sherer being congratulated by Sheriff Tony Mancuso after being certified as a Crime Scene Analyst (CCSA) by the International Association for Identification.

 

The International Association for Identification has 44 divisions representing 48 states and 45 counties. There is currently only 6 certified CCSAs in the state of Louisiana and 493 certified internationally.

VCIU Detectives | March 2020

On February 5 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Vehicle Crimes Investigation Unit (VCIU) investigated 13 vehicle burglaries in the Lake Charles and Iowa areas.

 

After an investigation detectives were able to make 7 arrests and recover 6 stolen firearms along with 2 stolen vehicles.

 

Lt. Brandon Miller along with Sr. Sgt. Warner Levy and Sgts. Matthew Bean, Hollan Dyer, Kardel Guidry, Greg Nall, and Austin Peloquin continually put in extra time and effort into their investigations and constantly demonstrate a level of competence that surpasses expectations.

Cpl. Leonard Brown | January 2020

Late last year CPSO Cpl. Leonard Brown was on his way home, while off-duty, when he observed a fellow CPSO deputy struggling with a suspect in the roadway. Brown immediately stopped and rendered assistance to the deputy. Brown was able to gain control of the suspect and place him in handcuffs.

Cpl Jacob Williams & Deputy Logan Leger | January 2020

In November, 2019, CPSO Cpl. Jacob Williams and Deputy Logan Leger were dispatched to a residence after it was discovered a special needs child had wandered away from his home.

 

When Williams and Leger arrived at the scene they immediately started searching the surrounding area. It was imperative deputies find the child as soon as possible due to the rapid deterioration of the weather.

The deputies were able to locate the child in a wooded area near the home. Due to the wet and cold weather conditions deputies gave the child their jacket and boots while they carried him back to the residence.
