SHERIFF TONY MANCUSO REMINDS RESIDENTS OF BURN BAN

Lake Charles, LA –

Sheriff Tony Mancuso is reminding residents the Louisiana statewide burn ban is still in effect.  The ban, ordered by the State Fire Marshal’s Office in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, prohibits all private burning with no exceptions.  This ban also prohibits all agricultural burning.

“Although we have recently received some rain, we are still experiencing unusually dry conditions,” stated Sheriff Tony Mancuso.  “Violating the burn ban that is in effect not only results in criminal penalties, but more importantly puts our first responders and community in danger.  We have received complaints of individuals burning and as of August 18, we have issued 17 misdemeanor summonses for violation of the State Fire Marshal’s order.”
