CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR 1ST DEGREE RAPE

Lake Charles, LA –

 

On April 3 Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to a local hospital in reference to a possible rape.         

           

During the initial investigation detectives learned Braylen M. Leday, 23, 2034 13th Street, Lake Charles, confirmed he had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 12, who was a family acquaintance.  After detectives spoke with Leday he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 1st degree rape.  Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $900,000. 

           

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.  

           

CPSO Detective Melanie Veillon is the lead investigator on this case.  

 

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
