CPSO ARREST MAN FOR 2ND DEGREE MURDER

Lake Charles, LA –

 

Last night, September 25, at approximately 8:30 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Bennie Lane in Lake Charles in reference to a shooting. 

           

Prior to deputies arrival, the 911 caller, later identified as Christian K. Bourriague, 26, Lake Charles, advised dispatchers he shot his neighbor, David K. Fife, 56, Lake Charles, after he charged at him in his driveway.  When deputies arrived, they located Fife outside deceased, suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds.

           

During the initial investigation, detectives were advised Bourriague and Fife were involved in a verbal altercation at which time Fife grabbed a weapon and began walking toward Bourriague, who was in possession of a handgun.  Fife put his weapon down but continued to approach Bourriague, at which time Bourriague shot Fife. 

           

The investigation is continuing.  The coroner will determine cause of death.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged.   A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
