CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR AGG BATTERY

Lake Charles, LA –

Last night, August 30, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were conducting an investigation in reference to a car in the roadway near 6th Avenue and 3rd Street in Lake Charles that was blocking the southbound lane.

During the investigation, detectives observed the car to be unoccupied.  Deputies made contact with an individual, later identified as Sincere Z. Buckley, 18, Iowa, who was walking from a residence on 6th Avenue.  Buckley entered the driver seat of the car and locked the door, refusing to unlock the door for deputies.  Deputies opened the back door of the car in an attempt to remove Buckley.  After a brief struggle the driver’s door opened, at which time Buckley turned the car on and drove away, dragging one of the deputies approximately 40 feet, before fleeing the scene.

Deputies set up a perimeter and began attempts to locate Buckley.  Later the same evening, the Lake Charles Police Department received a call on 6th Street in reference to Buckley hiding behind homes in the area.  When LCPD officers attempted to make contact with Buckley, he fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

Buckley was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with obstructing a public passage; aggravated 2nd degree battery; and resisting a police officer with force or violence.  Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $35,100.

The deputy was transported to a local hospital suffering a broken arm and abrasions from the incident.

CPSO Detective Julius Frazier is the lead investigator on this case.
