SHERIFF STITCH GUILLORY ANNOUNCES CPSO D.A.R.E. INSTRUCTOR GRADUATES

Lake Charles, LA –

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory is pleased to announce the recent graduation of CPSO Deputies Katie Watkins and Cory Clophus from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Instructor certification course. They joined numerous law enforcement officers from across the state who completed the two-week, 80-hour certification in Baton Rouge.

D.A.R.E. is a nationwide program, connecting law enforcement with schools and parents to form a partnership in order to educate children about the dangers of drugs. The program also teaches lessons regarding bullying, prescription drug abuse, internet safety, and gangs. “We are incredibly proud of our deputies for completing the D.A.R.E. Instructor School,” stated Sheriff Guillory. “Their dedication to educating our youth on the dangers of drugs and violence is a testament to their commitment to building a safe community. I have no doubt these two deputies; along with our other CPSO D.A.R.E. instructors will make a lasting impact on the lives of our children.”

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office currently has eleven deputies certified to teach the D.A.R.E. curriculum in elementary and middle schools throughout the parish.
