CPSO RELEASES RESULTS OF DWI & SEATBELT CHECKPOINT

On Saturday, March 20 the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a combination DWI and seatbelt checkpoint in the 600 block of N. Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, as well as those who were not wearing their seatbelt.

 

One thousand four hundred twenty-one (1,421) vehicles were checked; thirteen (13) citations were issued for no seatbelt; three (3) citations were issued for improper or no child restraint; two (2) citations were issued for no insurance; two (2) citations were issued for driving without a license; two (2) citations were issued for expired tag; two (2) citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection sticker; one (1) citation was issued for driving under suspension; one (1) citation was issued for failure to register a motor vehicle; and one (1) citation was issued for illegal window tint.   

               

The following individual was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center:

Claiborne L. Bergeron, 60, Westlake, was arrested for possession of CDS II (methamphetamines); possession of CDS I (marijuana); and two traffic citations. 

 

Participating in the checkpoint was the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police Troop D.
