CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

Lake Charles –

On February 5 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a store on Highway 171 in Moss Bluff in reference to a trespassing complaint.

When deputies arrived they spoke with the complainant who stated a man had been at the store for a long time and they were concerned.  Deputies made contact with the man, identified as David M. Leger, 33, 2710 Rushmore Drive, Lake Charles, a registered sex offender.  While speaking with Leger deputies learned he had been living in Calcasieu Parish for approximately one month and had not registered his address with law enforcement, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.

Leger was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender.  Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $5,000.

Leger was convicted of sexual battery in 2013 in Acadia Parish.

CPSO Sr. Cpl. Jordan Sexton was the arresting deputy on this case.
