Lake Charles –
This morning at approximately 6:40 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on East Burton Street near Evans Road in Sulphur in reference to a pedestrian being hit by a car.
It appears a 12 year old girl was crossing the street to board a school bus when a car traveling eastbound on Burton Street struck her. She was airlifted to a hospital out of town, where she is listed in critical condition. In accordance with Louisiana state law standard toxicology testing will be performed; however, impairment is not suspected at this time.
The accident is still under investigation. CPSO Sgt. Ty Istre is the lead investigator of this accident.
