CPSO ARRESTS MAN FOR ACTIVE WARRANTS AFTER PURSUIT

Lake Charles –

Earlier today, at approximately 8:00 a.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was conducting surveillance on a home off Gulf Highway in Lake Charles, in attempt to locate Morgan J. Lyons, 37, 622 E. Division Street, Jennings, who was wanted on two active warrants out of Jefferson Davis Parish.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. deputies observed Lyons leave the residence and head south. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle driven by Lyons but he did not comply and fled. Lyons continued to flee into Cameron Parish and approached the Black Bayou Bridge, where the barriers were up. He ran through the barriers and attempted to jump the bridge in his vehicle but crashed. Emergency medical personnel arrived and cleared Lyons of any injuries. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is being charged with distribution/manufacturing/possession of CDS I; distribution/manufacturing/possession of CDS II; possession of drug paraphernalia; illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon; transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses; and 2 counts of illegal possession of stolen firearms.

The Calcasieu Parish Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (CAT Team) will be taking over the investigation and more charges are likely.
